Green Bay Ramps Up Security as NFL Draft Prepares to Welcome 250,000 Fans
Green Bay, Wisconsin, typically home turf for Packers fans, is transforming into the epicenter of football fandom as it prepares to host the 2025 NFL Draft. With an expected turnout of 250,000 people over three days, security is being taken to the highest level.
Kendall Keyes reports that fencing, metal detectors, and concrete barriers are already in place around Lambeau Field. The league's director of security praised the area’s public safety teams, saying they’ve been preparing for over a year and are fully equipped to handle the crowd.
“This event is unlike a regular Packers game,” one official explained. “We’re dealing with a massive footprint—spanning the size of 70 football fields—and a crowd that could exceed any one-day game attendance.”
Security screening will mirror that of major airports. Fans entering through the two designated access points will face thorough checks, and only clear bags will be allowed inside. Officials advise attendees to travel light, leaving purses and backpacks at home to ease entry.
The FBI has been monitoring online threats for months but says there are no known threats at this time. They encourage fans to stay alert but also to enjoy the experience. “Bring your energy, support your clubs, and have a wonderful time,” officials said.
The NFL Draft is more than just a sports event—it's a celebration, and Green Bay is ready.
