Server of the Week: Miriam at Billy Reed’s in Palm Springs Surprised with $1,000 Tip

This week’s Server of the Week took us to the iconic Billy Reed’s restaurant in downtown Palm Springs, where NBC Palm Springs and Honda and Toyota of the Desert teamed up to deliver a life-changing surprise.

Our recipient? Miriam — a longtime server with 20 years of service at Billy Reed’s. Starting out as a hostess, Miriam worked her way up and became a fan favorite among both coworkers and customers for her warmth, kindness, and dedication.

Anthony, representing Honda and Toyota of the Desert, surprised Miriam on-site with the big news: “On behalf of our dealerships and NBC, you've been selected as our Server of the Week... and today, you're receiving $1,000.”

Visibly stunned and full of gratitude, Miriam responded, “I am really surprised. It’s a pleasure to work here. I love the people, the customers, the food—everything. It’s like one big family.”

Miriam shared that her favorite part of working at Billy Reed’s is, of course, getting to eat the food—but also the bond she’s built with her community over two decades. When asked what she planned to do with the money, she said the first thing she’ll do is show it to her kids, who are also big fans of the restaurant.

It was a well-deserved moment of joy for a server who’s given so much to her workplace and her customers.
