Firebirds complete sweep of Calgary to move into second round of Calder Cup Playoffs
The Coachella Valley Firebirds are advancing to the second round of the Calder Cup Playoffs following a two-game sweep of the Calgary Wranglers on Saturday night at Acrisure Arena. Following Tuesday night's triple overtime thriller, the Firebirds picked up where they left off in game two. After a scoreless first period, Mitchell Stephens, Tuesday's hero, found the back of the net to give Coachella Valley the 1-0 lead. John Hayden would seal the deal with an empty-net goal in the final seconds to give the Firebirds a 2-0 win. The Firebirds move into the second round where they'll meet the Abottsford Canucks in a best-of-five series beginning Thursday, May 1 at Acrisure Arena.
