Martinelli’s Recalls Apple Juice Over Toxin
Martinelli’s is urgently recalling thousands of cases of its popular apple juice.
The company announced that over 7,000 cases may be contaminated with a toxic substance.
The affected product was sold in 10-ounce round glass bottles with a white metal screw-top lid.
The bottles have a best-by date of December 5, 2026.
According to the FDA, the contamination involves patulin, a poisonous substance.
Patulin is produced by molds often found in rotting apples.
Consuming patulin can cause nausea, gastrointestinal issues, and vomiting.
In total, 173,616 bottles are being pulled from shelves.
The recalled apple juice was distributed across 28 states.
Customers are urged to check their pantries and refrigerators immediately.
Anyone with the affected product should not consume it and should return it for a refund.
Martinelli’s says it is working closely with authorities to ensure consumer safety.
