How Artificial Intelligence Is Changing the Way You Plan Your Summer Vacation

With summer travel season fast approaching, many people are turning to artificial intelligence for help planning the perfect getaway. CNN’s Michael Yoshida reports that from finding flights and hotels to building full itineraries, A.I. platforms are changing how we travel.

Gabriela Garcia, writer and founder of ModernBrownGirl.com, says A.I. tools like ChatGPT, Hopper, and Mindtrip can do much of the heavy lifting when it comes to researching and organizing trips. However, she cautions that these tools lack human nuance — they can't anticipate a traveler's mood, hunger, or unexpected changes in weather.

Despite the rise of smart tech, travel agents like Alexis Williams of An Enchanted Quest LLC say there's still a strong demand for personalized service. "AI can come and give an idea... but I'm the one who will actually do the booking," Williams explains.

Travel blogger Chris Oberman, creator of Moving Jack, adds that while A.I. can compile information quickly, it lacks the firsthand experiences and unique perspectives that human bloggers provide. Still, he acknowledges that A.I. will remain a growing part of the travel planning puzzle.

As A.I. tools become more available, experts recommend travelers still verify their plans with real people to ensure the vacation matches expectations. After all, what looks perfect online doesn't always translate the same way in real life.
