Restored WWII B-29 Superfortress ‘Doc’ Lands at Palm Springs Air Museum

A historic World War II aircraft touched down in the Coachella Valley Tuesday afternoon. The Palm Springs Air Museum welcomed Doc, a fully restored B-29 Superfortress bomber, as part of its national tour honoring American airmen.

The aircraft arrived around 1:30 p.m. and will be on display for several days, offering visitors a rare opportunity to tour one of only two B-29s still flying today.

Built during World War II, Doc is a long-range bomber that played a significant role in the U.S. Air Force's operations during the war. After years of restoration, the aircraft now tours the country to educate the public and commemorate the service of the men and women who supported the U.S. military effort from the skies.

The Palm Springs Air Museum will offer cockpit tours and educational displays from Wednesday, April 30 through Sunday, May 4. Museum staff say the arrival of Doc is a major moment for aviation enthusiasts and history buffs alike.

For tickets and details on how to tour the aircraft, visit the Palm Springs Air Museum website.
