Sheriff Bianco: Death of Jeff Sperbeck, Friend and Former Agent of John Elway, Appears to Be Tragic Accident

LA QUINTA, CA — Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco shared new details today in the death investigation of Jeff Sperbeck, a well-known NFL agent and close friend of Hall of Fame quarterback John Elway.

According to Bianco, early findings suggest that Sperbeck’s death was the result of a tragic accident, though the investigation is still active. "We are not finished yet with the investigation," Bianco stated, "but so far it appears to be just a tragic accident."

The incident occurred Saturday evening at the exclusive Madison Club in La Quinta. Around 6 p.m., Elway reportedly called 911 after Sperbeck fell from a golf cart Elway was driving. Emergency personnel from CAL FIRE responded to the scene promptly.

Sheriff Bianco noted that there is no evidence Elway was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident, a key detail that had not been previously confirmed.

Sperbeck, who had represented several high-profile NFL athletes, was known for his long professional and personal relationship with Elway.

Authorities have not released additional details pending the outcome of the full investigation.
