Among the celebrity guests is Sean Kanan, best known for his role as Mike Barnes in The Karate Kid Part III and more recently in Cobra Kai. Kanan, a local resident of Palm Springs, caught up with NBC Palm Springs’ Thalia Hayden ahead of the event.

“I’m really excited because I’m coming to Palm Springs this weekend for Retro Palm Springs Con,” said Kanan. “It’s going to be a great time—lots of celebrities, great chance to come out and get some signed autographs.”

Kanan also talked about his passion projects beyond acting, including his books Way of the Cobra and Way of the Cobra: Couples, co-written with his wife. A longtime animal rights advocate and Palm Springs enthusiast, he emphasized what a great opportunity this event is to celebrate both fandom and the community.
