Esperanza Fire Killer Denied New Appeal

A man convicted of starting a deadly wildfire near Cabazon will remain in prison.
The California Supreme Court has denied Raymond Lee Oyler’s latest appeal.
Oyler was found guilty of sparking the 2006 Esperanza Fire.
The blaze killed five Riverside County firefighters battling the flames.
It also caused an estimated $100 million in damage.
Oyler was convicted of five counts of first-degree murder.
He was also found guilty of 19 counts of arson.
Several additional charges were filed against him as well.
Prosecutors said Oyler intentionally set the fire during extreme weather conditions.
