Wally’s Desert Turtle Hosts Mother’s Day Champagne High Tea Honoring Cancer Survivors

This Mother’s Day weekend, Wally’s Desert Turtle in Rancho Mirage is serving more than just elegance and fine dining—it’s offering a heartfelt tribute to life, legacy, and healing.

The beloved family-owned restaurant will host its annual Champagne High Tea on Saturday, May 10 at 12 p.m., celebrating the unique bond between mothers and daughters while honoring those impacted by cancer.

The event is held in memory of Nicole Botello, daughter of Wally’s owner Madeline Botello, and also pays tribute to Eileen Alvarez, co-founder of Shays Warriors, who continues to inspire through her cancer journey.

“I do this in her honor,” said Madeline, referring to her late daughter. “We raise money to help build programs for cancer survivors.”

Sponsored by Shandon Champagne, T Forte, Palm Springs Life, and the City of Rancho Mirage, the event is presented in partnership with Shays Warriors, with proceeds benefiting the I Am Hope Retreat at the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage. The retreat provides a four-day, three-night experience where cancer survivors can recharge and reconnect with mind, body, and soul.

“I love this organization because it helps men and women with life after cancer,” one attendee shared.
