Eisenhower Health Honors Nurses with Weeklong Celebration for National Nurses Week

National Nurses Week is underway, and Eisenhower Health in Rancho Mirage is making sure the nurses who serve the Coachella Valley feel seen and appreciated. From May 6 through May 12, the hospital is hosting a series of events to recognize the critical role nurses play in healthcare.

Ben Farber, Vice President of Patient Care and Chief Nursing Officer at Eisenhower Health, says the week is about acknowledging the essential work nurses do every day. “We get to honor the work that nurses do, not only in our organization but across the country,” Farber said. “They’re the people patients see most frequently during hospitalization. They ensure care needs are met and are the frontline in escalating concerns to physicians.”

Nurses at Eisenhower expressed their passion for the profession, describing nursing as a calling that requires compassion and dedication. “I come every day because I want to make someone’s life better,” said one nurse. “To become a nurse, you need to have a caring heart.”

The week began with a t-shirt distribution and includes lunches, an ice cream day, and culminates with the unveiling of a new Daisy Garden on Monday. The garden will celebrate past and present Daisy Award recipients—nurses recognized for extraordinary care.

Farber emphasized the importance of taking time to publicly celebrate the nurses who often work behind the scenes. “I get really excited about this week because I get to truly honor my team in a way that I can’t always do during the year,” he said.

As National Nurses Week continues, it serves as a reminder of the invaluable work done by nurses throughout the Coachella Valley and around the world.
