Golden Globes to Add Best Podcast of the Year Category in 2026
The Golden Globes are expanding beyond the screen. For the first time in its history, the awards show will include a new category: Best Podcast of the Year. The addition recognizes the growing influence and cultural impact of podcasts across both audio and video platforms.
The Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which oversees the Globes, says the new award will celebrate podcasts that have made a “significant impact” over the past year. The first award will be presented at the 2026 Golden Globes ceremony in January.
The selection process will begin with a pool of the 25 most popular podcasts, from which six nominees will be chosen. That means well-known titles like The Joe Rogan Experience, Call Her Daddy with Alex Cooper, and Theo Vaughn's This Past Weekend are all likely contenders.
The move reflects a broader trend in entertainment, as podcasts continue to gain traction with mainstream audiences and cross over into TV and film. It also positions the Golden Globes as a more inclusive celebration of modern media.
The 2026 ceremony is expected to bring even more attention to the podcasting world as creators compete for this inaugural honor.
