Palm Springs Unified Hosts Student-Led Career Showcase at Air Museum
The Palm Springs Unified School District is inviting the community to its College and Career Technical Showcase—a student-led celebration of real-world learning, creativity, and future career paths.
Set to take place at the Palm Springs Air Museum, this open house-style event gives high school academy students the opportunity to present the projects and skills they’ve developed over the school year. It’s more than a showcase—it’s a demonstration of leadership, planning, and workforce readiness.
Joanna Basbous and Susan Hernandez, two student project managers, are among 22 ambassadors behind the event’s organization. From public relations and guest coordination to interactive displays and culinary offerings from the district’s Cafe Academy, students are handling every aspect of the experience.
“Community members and families should definitely come to our event,” said Hernandez, “because they get to see how excited our students are about their future—and even community partners might find students looking for jobs or internships.”
The theme of this year’s showcase is “Exploring the Sea of Possibilities,” reflected in immersive decor, hands-on exhibits, and creative presentations. Teacher on special assignment Kami Saliba, who has helped guide the ambassadors, says visitors will be impressed by what students have accomplished.
“The public will be amazed that high school students put on a large-scale event at a venue like the Palm Springs Air Museum,” Saliba said.
The event is designed to offer a glimpse into how education connects to career success. As one student put it, “It’s a face-to-face experience with what we can do, what we can handle, and what our schools expose us to.”
The CTE Showcase takes place tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Palm Springs Air Museum. All are welcome to drop in, meet the students, view the exhibits, and witness firsthand the innovation and determination of the next generation.
