Indio High Hosts Mental Wellness Fair
Managing school stress isn't always easy, but Indio High School is making it a priority. The school recently hosted a campus-wide wellness event to support students' mental health. From therapy dogs to planting stations, the event offered something for everyone. Students participated in hands-on activities aimed at reducing stress and promoting mindfulness. Around 30 booths were set up by community partners, school staff, and students. Each station offered tools, resources, and experiences focused on emotional well-being. One of the highlights was Luna, a friendly therapy dog who brought comfort and joy. Students also wrote positive affirmations and created self-care messages. Lorena Magana, a student leader, played a key role in organizing the event. The school’s mental health therapist collaborated with the district to bring the idea to life. Organizers hoped to show students that help comes in many forms—not just talk therapy. Nearly 400 students took part, leaving with new ways to manage stress both in and out of school.
