Local Superstar Abi Carter, Surprises Students At Cielo Vista Charter Talent Show

Palm Springs High School's Theatre was filled with cheers and emotion Wednesday night for Cielo Vista Charter annual school talent show. Over 20 acts made up the evening. With fourth-grader Colton Lopez singing a hit off of local superstar and American Idol winner Abi Carter's newest album, Ghosts in the Backyard. What Lopez and other students didn't know was, a surprise guest would hop on stage and join the show.

Colton had just begun performing one of Carter’s songs, when the crowd erupted in surprise—Carter herself walked on stage and began singing alongside him. The young performer, known among classmates for his passion and stage presence, was visibly emotional during the performance, almost shedding tears as the two sang together. The performance made for a unique experience for both Lopez, getting to see his idol next to him, and for Carter, as she got to interact with students in the community she grew up in.
