Grand Opening of Desert Wildlife Center Promises New Hope for Injured and Orphaned Wildlife in Coachella Valley
INDIO, CA – May 12, 2025 — A new chapter in wildlife rescue and rehabilitation is unfolding in the Coachella Valley. Greater Palm Springs Animal Allies has announced the Grand Opening Celebration of the Desert Wildlife Center (DWC), a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to the care of sick, injured, and orphaned wild animals. The public is invited to tour the center on Saturday, May 17th, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM ahead of its official opening this spring.
Set on the grounds of the former wild bird center in Indio, the DWC is poised to become a crucial sanctuary for the region’s vulnerable wildlife. Initially focusing on wild birds, the center will eventually expand its services to include reptiles and mammals.
The center's mission goes beyond rehabilitation. Through humane education programs, DWC aims to empower residents of all ages to become wildlife advocates, fostering a network of support for the creatures who share our environment.
The Grand Opening promises a first look at this vital community resource and an opportunity to learn how individuals can make a difference. To RSVP or learn more about the event and the Center’s mission, visit desertwildlifecenter.org.
