Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage Hosts Yelp Elites for Exclusive Local Business Showcase

Online reviews have the power to shape a business’s reputation, and Yelp remains a key platform for customer feedback. Recently, the Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage took that influence offline, hosting an exclusive event for the Inland Empire’s most active Yelp users. NBC Palm Springs’ Kai Beach was there to cover the gathering that brought the digital community into the real world.

“It’s a powerful app that can help make or break a business,” Beach noted. From discovering new restaurants to recommending services, Yelp allows users to instantly share their experiences with a wide audience.

The event brought together Yelp’s so-called “elites”—the platform’s most active and influential reviewers—with local business owners, including Herman, owner of Lafay Wine Bar and Mosfino Wines.

“You have a business, social media and Yelp and all those sorts of things are very important,” Herman said. “If you really take pride in your business, Yelp actually helps you because you’re doing the things right.”

Participants sampled food and drinks, networked, and got a firsthand look at the businesses they’ve supported online. “It’s a great way to connect the businesses to the community, but it’s also a great way for our Yelp community to connect with each other,” said one organizer.

With online reviews carrying increasing weight in consumer decisions, events like these aim to foster stronger relationships between businesses and the reviewers who help shape their success.

“Social media is utterly important to make sure that the retention of business is there for all of our restaurants in the Valley,” another participant emphasized.

The Ritz-Carlton event highlighted how virtual reviews and real-life connections are now working hand in hand to strengthen the local business landscape.
