Pickleball Takes Center Stage at Agua Caliente Rancho Mirage with Pro Match and Local Showdown

Pickleball fans across the Coachella Valley had their moment in the spotlight Thursday night as Agua Caliente Casinos celebrated National Pickleball Month with a high-energy event at The Show in Rancho Mirage.

The venue was transformed into a professional pickleball court for the very first time, complete with stadium lighting, cheering fans, and a pro-level exhibition match between the Coachella Valley Scorpions and the Seattle Tsunami.

NBC Palm Springs' Caitlyn Kelley was live on the scene and described the setup as “a total testament” to the sport’s meteoric rise. “They’ve transformed The Show into a brand-new Agua Caliente pickleball court—on full display and used for the very first time,” she reported.

The night’s festivities included a local twist: a friendly face-off between Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills and Deputy Fire Chief Jeff Van Lierup, adding even more excitement to the event.

NBC’s Tim O’Brien, well-known for hosting at Acrisure Arena, took on emcee duties, energizing the packed crowd.

“This crowd is electric. Everyone here in the desert loves pickleball,” Kelly said, noting the sport’s growing popularity not just in the U.S., but globally.

With hopes that pickleball may become an official sport in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, the momentum around events like this continues to build.
