Hiker Airlifted from Indio Hills Badlands Trail After Injury and Dehydration
A hiker was airlifted from the Indio Hills Badlands trail today after sustaining an injury and showing signs of dehydration and fatigue.
Deputies say the rescue happened just after noon. One of the hiker’s companions called for help after realizing they might not be able to continue safely on the trail.
A helicopter crew responded quickly, locating and hoisting both hikers from the rugged terrain. They were then transported to awaiting paramedics for evaluation and care.
Authorities are reminding residents and visitors to take extra precautions when hiking in desert conditions, especially as temperatures rise.
