Palm Springs Terror Attack: Fertility Clinic Bombing Kills One, Injures Five
A deadly explosion shook downtown Palm Springs on Saturday morning in what authorities are now calling an act of terrorism. The blast occurred around 11 a.m. outside the American Reproductive Center on North Indian Canyon Drive, killing one person and injuring at least five others.
Palm Springs Police Chief Andy Mills confirmed the explosion was an “intentional act of terrorism” during a press conference held near the scene. FBI Assistant Director Akil Davis said the agency’s Joint Terrorism Task Force is leading the investigation alongside local law enforcement and the ATF. The origin of the blast appears to be a vehicle that exploded outside the fertility clinic, sending debris across a 250-yard radius and damaging several surrounding businesses.
Fire Chief Paul Alvarado said firefighters arrived within one minute to find the building engulfed and partially collapsed. The fire was mostly extinguished, but concerns about structural stability forced crews to back out. Remarkably, the fertility clinic confirmed that all embryos and reproductive materials were unharmed, and the clinic was closed at the time of the blast.
Authorities confirmed that all clinic staff are safe and accounted for. Desert Regional Medical Center, located just across the street, remains open, though access is limited due to the crime scene perimeter.
Investigators have not released the identity of the deceased or clarified whether they were involved in the bombing. A tripod with a camera found near the site is under investigation, adding to concerns the attack may have been livestreamed.
Officials are asking the public for patience as they continue processing the large and complex crime scene. Anyone with information is urged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
