Viral Video Shows Angry Diner Knock Over Server’s Tray at Miami Restaurant on Mother’s Day

It was likely every server’s worst nightmare—and now the moment is going viral.

Surveillance video from Garcia’s Seafood Grill on the Miami River shows a man angrily storming out of the restaurant on Mother’s Day and deliberately knocking over a server’s tray full of food.

“Needless to say, he was shocked,” said the restaurant’s owner, Luis Garcia. “He thought, ‘I’m going to get in so much trouble. People are not going to believe that somebody knocked it over—they’re going to think I dropped it.’”

Fortunately for the server, the entire incident was caught on video. Since the footage surfaced online, people across the country have shown support, calling to tip the server and pay for the spilled meal.

Garcia says the man’s behavior was alarming from the start. On the busy holiday, the man reportedly forced his way past a long line of waiting customers and the hostess, bumped into a manager, and seated himself. When approached, Garcia said, “He just wasn’t making a lot of sense. He was very irate, very angry, saying a lot of bad words.”

The patio was packed with families celebrating Mother’s Day when the man began shouting profanities. Once asked to leave, the situation escalated—he followed the manager around the restaurant while yelling, as staff called police.

“It could have gone really bad,” Garcia said. “My guys were aware of it quickly and got him out. I was proud of them.”

Thankfully, no one was hurt.

Garcia believes the man may have been experiencing a mental health crisis. “Mother’s Day is a tough day for some people… Mental health is a real big problem, and I firmly believe this person had some mental health issues.”

Authorities are now working to locate the man, who may be linked to other crimes committed on the same day.

“We’ve got to find him and get him some help,” Garcia said.
