Palm Springs Mayor Breaks Silence on Bombing Aftermath, Promises Transparency
For the first time since Saturday’s car bombing rocked downtown Palm Springs, Mayor Ron DeHart is publicly addressing the community. In an exclusive conversation with NBC Palm Springs' Tiani Jadulang, DeHart discussed the city’s response, ongoing cleanup, and his plans for transparency in the days ahead.
Mayor DeHart had not attended the two press briefings held since the bombing, telling NBC Palm Springs he had been at his son’s graduation at the time. However, he says he has remained available 24/7 since the attack and is taking the lead in communicating with national and international media.
“I think you’ve gotten the most up-to-date information,” DeHart said, “and we are standing by to share details as they become available… We’re going to continue to operate under full transparency to keep the community informed.”
Cleanup efforts are already underway, with local businesses stepping in to help. Lisa Schindler of a local glass and mirror company confirmed that the city contacted them early Monday to assist with repairing shattered windows.
“We started getting calls even before the city reached out,” Schindler said. “Most of the damage is near Palm Canyon, but there’s loose glass on Indian Canyon too.”

As the investigation into the bombing continues, city officials are urging patience and continued vigilance. The FBI and local authorities have confirmed that the explosion was a targeted terrorist attack, with significant damage still being assessed.
