Scorching Week Ahead: Triple-Digit Temperatures Return to Coachella Valley

Coachella Valley Braces for a Week of Triple-Digit Heat

The heat is turning up across the Coachella Valley this week, and it’s only the beginning. Monday kicks off with a high of 99°F—already five degrees above the seasonal average of 95°F—and marks the last day before the region tips into the triple digits.

A high-pressure system is gradually pushing into Southern California, setting the stage for an extended heatwave. By Tuesday, daytime highs will surge to between 101°F and 105°F. The trend continues into Wednesday with temperatures reaching between 103°F and 107°F.

“It is hot out there, so do not be taking your dog on a walk at noon,” meteorologists warn. “Get out earlier, get your exercise in, and walk your pups a little earlier in the day.”

Despite the extreme heat, wind conditions remain relatively calm on the desert floor. However, areas like Whitewater and Desert Hot Springs may experience gusty winds with sustained speeds around 20 mph and gusts reaching into the 30s.

Looking ahead, the triple-digit streak is expected to last through the end of the workweek. A slight cool-down is anticipated by Saturday, bringing the high back to 99°F—still above normal, but a welcome relief after several sweltering days.

Stay hydrated, avoid outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and look out for signs of heat-related illness in yourself and pets. Summer in the desert is officially here.
