Questions Remain About Identities of Victims Injured in Palm Springs Bombing

Days after a devastating car bombing shook downtown Palm Springs, key questions remain unanswered—especially about the four people who were hospitalized following the explosion. Who were they, and where were they at the time of the blast?

Despite multiple requests for information, public agencies are not offering clarity.

When NBC Palm Springs contacted the FBI for details on the identities and conditions of the injured, we were directed to the Palm Springs Fire Department. That agency, in turn, referred us back to the FBI. Neither department has provided updates, nor have they explained the reasoning behind withholding this information.

In California, records related to a bombing or similar emergency incident—including the names of those injured—are generally subject to the State Public Records Act. That means the public has a right to access this information unless specific exemptions apply.

At this time, it's unclear why Palm Springs Police and Fire Departments have not released these basic details. The lack of transparency raises concern among residents and families eager to understand the full scope of what happened—and who was affected.
