‘Ride of Silence’ in Palm Springs to Honor Cyclists Killed or Injured on Public Roads
Cyclists from around the Coachella Valley will take part in a powerful and emotional event this week: the annual ‘Ride of Silence,’ honoring those who have been killed or injured while biking on public roads.
The ceremonial ride is scheduled for Wednesday, beginning at 6:30 p.m. from Ruth Hardy Park in Palm Springs. Riders will proceed silently through city streets in a solemn tribute to lives lost and those forever changed by cycling accidents.
Palm Springs joins more than 40 states and 14 countries participating in the international Ride of Silence. The event is designed not only to honor victims but also to raise awareness about the importance of road safety and the need for better protection for cyclists.
Organizers encourage riders of all experience levels to join and bring their own bicycles, helmets, and lights. The ride is free and will be conducted at a slow pace to emphasize unity, respect, and remembrance.
As the Coachella Valley continues to promote bike-friendly infrastructure, the Ride of Silence serves as a reminder of the real risks cyclists face and the lives that depend on safer streets.
