American Reproductive Centers Speaks Out After Bombing, Vows to Rebuild
The American Reproductive Centers in Palm Springs broke their silence today, speaking publicly for the first time since the bombing that shocked the community. The press conference, held at 11 a.m., featured remarks from city leaders and clinic staff, including Dr. Maher Abdallah and his business partner Amer Abdallah.
“We are heartbroken, but we are not broken. We are shaken, but we have not stopped,” said Amer Abdallah in opening remarks. The clinic, which suffered major damage in the blast, is already moving forward with plans to resume care.
Dr. Abdallah recounted that he was scheduled to be in his office the day of the attack, and that Saturday work is common for staff checking on embryos and preparing for the week ahead. He described it as an “act of God” that no one was in the building at the time.
“There was a moment when I thought I had lost an employee,” he said, recalling the panic of the first phone call after the bombing.
Remarkably, all embryos stored at the facility survived the explosion. Dr. Abdallah said the clinic quickly secured space across the street and plans to move the cryotanks there by Sunday, with full operations and phone lines resuming by Tuesday.
He noted that not only were the embryos unharmed, but they were among the healthiest and best quality he’s ever seen.
Palm Springs Mayor Ron Deharte praised the fast and brave response by emergency crews, calling their actions “nothing short of miraculous.” He said the city is working with state and regional partners to help bring resources to those affected.
The most surprising moment of the press conference came when Dr. Abdallah revealed that he has reached out to the family of the deceased bomber and offered to pay for funeral expenses.
“This man was misguided. I don’t blame him. And I forgive him,” Dr. Abdallah said, leaving many in the room speechless.
