Memorial Day in the Desert: Pool Parties, Parades, Ceremonies, and a Flower Drop

Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and there’s no shortage of activities across the Coachella Valley and Riverside to enjoy and honor the occasion.

In Palm Springs, the Sun Vibes Pool Party at the Ace Hotel promises a weekend of music, dancing, and poolside relaxation. With vibrant decor, plush cabanas, and unique cocktails, it’s the perfect way to kick off summer. A new VIP open bar in the NBC Peacock Lounge adds an extra splash of luxury.

In Riverside, West Coast Thunder returns on Monday, May 26, with a patriotic motorcycle procession starting at 6 a.m. The ride departs from Harley-Davidson, passes the Riverside National Cemetery, and continues into downtown for a concert by multi-platinum country band Lanco at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium.

For a solemn tribute, Desert Hot Springs will host a Memorial Day ceremony at Veterans Park on Monday at 9 a.m. The event includes a presentation of colors by Desert Hot Springs High School, guest speakers, and performances of Taps and Amazing Grace to honor our fallen heroes.

At the Palm Springs Air Museum, Memorial Day will be marked with the Annual Flower Drop and Air Fair. Beginning at 10 a.m., the event includes a service, a flyby, and a dramatic drop of over 3,000 red and white carnations from a B-25 Mitchell bomber at 1 p.m. Flight exhibitions and activities will run throughout the day.

Whether you’re soaking up the sun, joining a parade, or honoring our heroes, there are plenty of ways to make this Memorial Day weekend memorable. Happy Memorial Day!
