Memorial Day, World Dracula Day, and More: What’s Happening Today, May 26, 2025
It’s Monday, May 26, 2025, and while we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom on Memorial Day, there are a few other fun and quirky holidays worth celebrating today.
🔍 World Dracula Day marks the anniversary of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, first published on this date in 1897. It’s a day to appreciate the novel that introduced one of the most famous characters in literature—and maybe enjoy a vampire joke or two (Why don’t vampires have many friends? Because they’re a pain in the neck!).
🔥 World Redhead Day celebrates the small but mighty group of people born with red hair—less than 2% of the world’s population! Famous redheads include Jessica Chastain, Nicole Kidman, Emma Stone, and Prince Harry. Today, redheads can bask in the spotlight.
🍒 National Cherry Dessert Day gives us all an excuse to indulge in cherry pie, cobbler, cheesecake, or even cherry ice cream (if it exists!). It’s a sweet way to add a touch of red to the day’s celebrations.
✈️ International Paper Airplane Day invites kids and adults alike to fold a paper plane and see how far it can soar. It’s a simple, fun activity for family and friends.
🎤 Pop Quiz Time!

The correct answer is C—the song is a sharp commentary on immigration fears.
2️⃣ Former California college quarterback Joe Ayoub set a Guinness World Record in 2012 for the longest paper airplane flight. How far did it travel?
A. 56 feet
B. 113 feet
C. 226 feet

So while Memorial Day anchors today’s significance, there’s no shortage of fun and learning to mix into the day.
