Tariffs Might Drive Up Costs At Memorial Day Cookouts

Its Memorial Day the unofficial start to summer and some of those summer staples you buy might be a little pricier. That goes for what you cook on the grill or maybe the cold beer you'll be sipping. The reason? Tariffs. In April president Donald Trump put a 25 percent tariff on imported aluminum and steel. That includes empty aluminum cans and imported canned beer. With US-based brewers feeling the cost pressure pinch that could transfer to the consumer. You could also see higher prices for those fireworks you buy at roadside stands. There is some good news with prices if you're one of the millions traveling by road this holiday weekend there's a little more bang for your buck at the gas pump. Gas buddy was projecting a national average for a gallon of regular at $3.08 that would be the lowest price for gasoline on a Memorial Day weekend in four years.
