American Reproductive Center Reopens After Bombing
Less than two weeks after a bombing devastated the American Reproductive Center's IVF clinic, the team is making a determined return—this time from a new temporary location at El Mirador Medical Plaza.
Dr. Maher Abdallah, medical director of the clinic, held a press conference last Thursday expressing a firm commitment to rebuilding. He told NBC Palm Springs Reporter Brett Rosen that patient care remains the top priority. “We basically want to show how resilient we are, how hardworking we are, and that we're about our patient care,” said Dr. Abdallah.
Although the clinic is not yet fully operational, staff are seeing existing patients and performing ultrasounds. Dr. Abdallah anticipates full operational status, including the ability to accept new patients and resume IVF procedures, by mid-July once accreditation and licensure are secured.
For many on staff, including sonographer Kennia Escobar, the idea of staying complacent never crossed their minds. “Everyone was feeling nerves just because we didn't know what the intention was behind the whole situation. But again, our thoughts were moving forward,” Escobar said.
In a moment of hope amidst the chaos, Dr. Abdallah shared that seven of the eight embryos saved from the original site are genetically normal—a rare and uplifting result. “So things are just perfection,” he said.
The team’s morale is bolstered by overwhelming community support. “We feel the love, we feel the support, we feel the community behind everything. We love helping families. The whole idea of it is creating family,” Escobar added.
Though this new clinic is a temporary solution, plans are underway to rebuild the original site from the ground up, with a hopeful return projected for 2026. For more information tune into NBC Palm Springs.
