Celebrate Whooping Crane Day, World Otter Day, and More with NBC Palm Springs’ Hashtag Holiday Calendar
Today’s Hashtag Holiday Calendar, brought to you by Inland Empire Health Plan, has some fun and tasty highlights!
May 28th marks Whooping Crane Day, a day to raise awareness about the critically endangered species, once reduced to just 20 birds in the 1940s. Thanks to conservation efforts, there are around 800 whooping cranes today—still rare but a hopeful increase for these stunning birds.
It’s also World Otter Day, celebrated on the last Wednesday in May. Like the cranes, otters are beloved for their cuteness and are increasingly the focus of global conservation efforts. Otter fans, today’s your day!
Foodies will love that May 28th is also National Brisket Day and International Hamburger Day. Brisket, a prime cut of beef from the breast or lower chest, has long been a staple of barbecue culture. And what better way to celebrate than with a juicy burger? Whether you prefer homemade or from your favorite local spot, today’s a day for indulgence.
To cap off the celebration, our pop quiz tied to today’s holidays is sure to challenge your trivia skills!
