29-PSP Marks One Year of Free Rides for Military Families

29-PSP, the all-volunteer organization dedicated to providing free transportation for active duty military personnel and their families, marked its one-year anniversary last night with a celebration at the Palm Springs Surf Club.

The nonprofit, founded by former volunteers from a prior group, has made a significant impact in its first year. 29PSP offers complimentary rides to and from airports and the 29 Palms Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center for military personnel on leave. Each trip saves military families an estimated $200 one-way.

Since its launch, 29-PSP has provided over 1,300 rides, totaling an estimated $350,000 in savings for military families. However, the path to success hasn’t been without challenges. The group has had to navigate complex regulatory approvals, insurance requirements, and logistical hurdles to gain access to the base and the airports.

“We’re proud of what we’ve accomplished, and we’re grateful for the community’s support,” said a 29-PSP representative at the event. “Our volunteers are the heart of this organization, and their dedication makes a real difference for our military families.”

The organization relies solely on donors and sponsors to fund its operations. Those interested in contributing can visit the group’s website for more information on how to support their mission.
