Palm Springs Community Honors Heroes After Attack

It’s been just over a week since a domestic terrorist attack shattered the peace of Palm Springs.
In that short time, the community has shown resilience and compassion.
A local group of residents in the Fairways neighborhood quickly sprang into action.
What began as a small project to thank first responders grew into something much bigger.
They initially aimed to create care packages for fire and police crews,
but the outpouring of support exceeded expectations.
In total, they raised enough to not only build the boxes but also donate $700 to local rebuilding efforts.
Each box was packed with essentials and heartfelt messages.
Four boxes in total—one for the police station and three for area fire stations—were hand-delivered.
Janet Siegle, the organizer, said stepping up felt like a calling, especially after living through 9/11.
Her message to first responders is one of deep gratitude: “You ran into real crisis and performed excellence.”
Now, she hopes the entire community will join her in thanking the heroes who protect us all
