Trump Slams Putin and Zelensky Amid Russia’s Largest Aerial Attack on Ukraine California US and World
Following Russia’s largest aerial attack on Ukraine in its three-year war, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused the U.S. of “silence” that encourages Russian President Vladimir Putin. However, former President Donald Trump didn’t stay silent.
On Sunday, Trump condemned Putin, stating, “I’m not happy with what Putin’s doing. He’s killing a lot of people.” Trump, who has known Putin for years, added, “I don’t know what the hell happened to Putin. I’ve known him a long time, always gotten along with him, but he’s sending rockets into cities and killing people, and I don’t like it at all, okay?”
Trump also posted on social media, calling Putin’s behavior “absolutely crazy.” The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the massive overnight assault included dozens of missiles and nearly 300 attack drones. Although many of the projectiles were intercepted, at least 12 people were killed across Ukraine, including children, with dozens more injured.
Trump revealed he had recently spoken with Putin in an effort to negotiate a ceasefire. “We’re in the middle of talking and he’s shooting rockets into Kyiv and other cities. I don’t like it at all,” he said.
In the same social media posts, Trump criticized Zelensky, who had earlier commented that America’s silence was emboldening Putin’s continued attacks.
Meanwhile, Sunday also marked the largest prisoner swap of the war, with over 600 Russian and Ukrainian prisoners exchanged.
