Desert Hot Springs Honors Two Local Students with Street Namings
This morning, Desert Hot Springs celebrated the achievements of two outstanding local students with a special honor: street namings in their names.
Maya Carbajal Cabrera, the valedictorian of Desert Hot Springs High School, had a corner named after her in recognition of her hard work and dedication. Graduating with an impressive 4.65 GPA, Maya has set her sights on the University of California, Los Angeles, where she plans to continue her education. As she embarks on this next chapter, the community sends her best wishes for success.
In front of the Edward Wellnath Education Center, another street sign was unveiled in honor of Fritzie Guerrero Navarro. Fritzie, one of Mount San Jacinto High School’s top 10 students, has already completed her first semester at College of the Desert (COD). Reflecting on her journey, Fritzie shared, “It’s possible if you try hard enough. It’s hard work. It can be stressful, but you just have to keep doing it, and it’ll pay off in the end.”
She added that her determination and the support of her family played key roles in her success. “A lot of times I was really tired, but I still pushed through with resilience. And I feel like that itself really helped me. My family encouraged me a lot throughout my journey,” she said.
These recognitions highlight the promise and dedication of young leaders in Desert Hot Springs. The community proudly celebrates Maya and Fritzie’s accomplishments and looks forward to seeing their bright futures unfold.
