Video Shows Train Colliding with Semi-Truck in Florida; Driver Escapes Unharmed
Dramatic video captured the moment a Florida East Coast Railway train crashed into a semi-truck that had stalled on the tracks in Melbourne. The incident, which occurred at the intersection of US 1 and Lake Washington Road, showed the semi-truck unable to move as the train approached.
Witness Melissa Katz described the frightening scene, saying, “I saw the guy struggling. He stopped on the tracks, and he couldn't get it to move. He tried starting it, and it was like stalling. It was like shaking back and forth.” Katz added that just seconds before the collision, the crossing levers came down, heightening the panic among bystanders.
Melbourne police confirmed that the driver managed to exit the truck moments before the train struck it. “Anytime if you have a vehicle that gets stalled out or disabled on tracks, you might think that the best place is in the car. But in that situation, it’s not because when a train comes, the train is going to win. And it’s going to win whether you’re in there or not,” a police spokesperson said.
Chopper 2 footage from the scene revealed significant damage to the semi-truck and the crossing signals. Despite the damage, no injuries were reported. “A train wreck right in front of you, that’s like, seriously, very scary,” Katz remarked. “I thank God that I'm alive and well and everything's fine and the driver was able to get away safely.”
