Truck Crashes Into Tree Friday Afternoon

A truck crashed into a tree on Monterey Avenue just before 5 p.m. Friday.
The incident happened directly across from the College of the Desert campus in Palm Desert.
Authorities say the truck ended up on the wrong side of traffic.
As a result, traffic delays quickly formed along Monterey.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene within minutes.
Riverside County Sheriff's deputies confirmed no other vehicles were involved.
The driver of the truck was taken to a nearby hospital.
He is reported to be in stable condition.
No passengers were inside the vehicle at the time.
Deputies are still investigating what led to the Friday crash.
There were no reported power outages or damage beyond the tree.
Drivers were urged to avoid the area as cleanup continued.
