Marilyn Monroe’s 99th Birthday Draws Huge Crowd
Hundreds gathered earlier today in downtown Palm Springs for a celebration unlike any other.
It marked what would have been Marilyn Monroe’s 99th birthday.
The event took place at the base of the iconic “Forever Marilyn” statue.
Fans from across the Coachella Valley came to pay tribute to the Hollywood legend.
The 26-foot-tall statue has become a beloved fixture in the city.
Now permanently installed in Downtown Park, it continues to attract nearly a million visitors a year.
Music filled the air as guests enjoyed cupcakes, lemonade, and photo opportunities.
A Marilyn Monroe look-alike contest stole the show.
It was hosted by a local drag performer known for dazzling crowds.
Families, tourists, and longtime fans shared stories of Monroe’s lasting legacy.
The birthday celebration started around 1 p.m. and wrapped up around 6.
Organizers say this annual event will likely keep growing each year.

Remembering and honoring the loved ones we’ve lost. ❤️ Dia de los Muertos is about more than mourning — it’s a time to celebrate the lives, memories and traditions of those who will always remain in our hearts. We spoke with Mateo Gomez of Forest Lawn about the importance of keeping those memories alive and creating healthier conversations around grief and loss, including the stigma surrounding suicide. Join Forest Lawn for a special Día de los Muertos celebration this Monday in Cathedral City, from 5 to 8 p.m. Families are invited to come together, remember loved ones and celebrate their lives. #DiaDeLosMuertos #DayOfTheDead #ForestLawn #CathedralCity #RememberingLovedOnes #GriefSupport #NBCPalmSprings
