Coachella Valley Rescue Mission Launches Backpack Bonanza for Underserved Students

As summer vacation approaches for Valley students, local organizations are already preparing to support those in need for the upcoming school year. The Coachella Valley Rescue Mission (CVRM) is calling on the community to help make its annual Backpack Bonanza a success.

Starting June 16th, donation boxes will be placed throughout the Coachella Valley, allowing residents to contribute much-needed school supplies. These supplies will be distributed to underserved students on August 14th. According to CVRM, 31% of children in the region live at or below the poverty line, highlighting the critical need for community support.

This year, the organization aims to distribute 2,500 backpacks filled with essential school supplies to help students start the year prepared. “This is about giving these kids the tools they need to succeed and making sure they don’t feel left out when school starts,” a CVRM spokesperson shared.
