Dr. Marcus Funchess Named Finalist for Palm Springs Unified Superintendent

Palm Springs Unified School District has named Dr. Marcus Funchess as the finalist for superintendent following a nationwide search that drew over 30 candidates.

Dr. Funchess currently serves as assistant superintendent of human resources for the San Bernardino City Unified School District. He brings years of leadership experience and says his top priorities are improving student achievement and fostering strong community engagement.

The Palm Springs Unified School Board is scheduled to vote on his appointment during its June 10 meeting. If approved, Dr. Funchess would begin his new role on July 1, following the retirement of current superintendent Dr. Tony Signore.
