Muggy Skies and Mild Relief: Coachella Valley Briefly Dips Below Triple Digits

Coachella Valley Weather Update: Mild Heat, Humid Air, and Rain Chances Through Wednesday

Coachella Valley, CA — Happy Tuesday from the desert! While summer-like heat is par for the course this time of year, today’s high of 99°F was technically a touch below average. Typically, we’d be well into the triple digits by now, so this minor drop offered a short-lived reprieve for locals.

If you've stepped outside recently, you probably noticed it's not just hot — it's sticky. That muggy, humid feeling is thanks to a low-pressure system that’s been parked to the south of our region. As it continues to move out, it's bringing along a mix of cloudy skies, thick air, and even the chance of scattered showers across Southern California.

Light rain has already made its way across parts of the desert and mountains, with scattered showers expected to continue through Wednesday morning. While total rainfall amounts will be minimal — especially on the desert floor — any rain is notable in our typically dry region.

If you’ve recently traveled, like returning from drier Colorado air, the contrast has been especially noticeable. The thick humidity hit as soon as the plane doors opened.

Looking ahead, the forecast shows a shift starting Thursday. As the low-pressure system exits, we begin a drying and warming trend. By the weekend and into early next week, expect classic desert summer conditions to return — highs climbing sharply, reaching an expected 112°F by Monday.

Stay hydrated and take advantage of the milder temps while they last!
