Laura Stearns Discusses Healing from Trauma on Desert Entertainment

This week on Desert Entertainment, host Tod Macofsky welcomed actor, singer, designer, and author Laura Stearns for an engaging conversation about her new book Daring to Heal: Growing Beyond Trauma Through Awareness, Acceptance, and Action. Known for her recent performances at The Bent and Dezart Performs in Palm Springs, Stearns shared how her latest work offers guidance on understanding and healing from trauma.

Stearns, who relocated from Minneapolis to the Coachella Valley, has dedicated her life to the arts. However, her personal journey has not been without challenges. In her first memoir Shattered: Exposing the Open Secret of the Children's Theater Scandal, she recounted her experience as a child actor subjected to abuse. Her latest book, Daring to Heal, builds on her story by providing tools for survivors of trauma to begin their healing process.

“I wrote the book I needed when I was going through my trauma recovery,” said Stearns. “It’s about understanding what trauma is and providing advice that is relatable to anyone, regardless of how their trauma originated.”

Daring to Heal is available on Amazon in print and Kindle versions, and through other booksellers. Soon, it will also be released on additional e-readers and as an e-published version.
