New Details Emerge About Second Suspect in Palm Springs Fertility Clinic Bombing
New information is shedding light on a second man now facing charges related to the Palm Springs fertility clinic bombing.
Daniel Park, a 32-year-old from Washington State, appeared in Brooklyn federal court after being arrested for allegedly supplying Guy Bartkus—the accused bomber—with hundreds of pounds of ammonium nitrate, a key chemical used in bomb-making.
According to federal investigators, Park and Bartkus shared an extremist “anti-life” ideology. U.S. Attorney Bill Essayli confirmed Park attempted to recruit others online through social media forums promoting pro-mortalism and anti-natalism.
FBI officials say Park shipped the explosive materials to Bartkus just days before the April attack on the American Fertility clinic in Palm Springs.
NBC Palm Springs’ Tiani Jadulang reports from the blast site, where investigators are still working to understand how this extremist network formed. According to several published reports, Bartkus left behind a manifesto referencing a woman named Sophie Tinney—who was found shot and killed on Fox Island in Washington. Several published reports on Barktus' manifesto say Tinney may have influenced Bartkus’ decision.
Bartkus’ father, Richard Bartkus, expressed deep concern over who his son had been involved with in Washington, saying his behavior had changed dramatically in the last year.
At this time, there are no known direct ties between Sophie Tinney and Daniel Park beyond their residence in Washington. The FBI has not confirmed how Park and Bartkus met.
The investigation remains ongoing.
