Scotus Tosses Mexico's Suit Against U.S. Gunmakers
The Supreme Court has tossed out a lawsuit from the Mexican government against U.S. gun manufacturers. Today, the justices unanimously blocked a case brought by Mexico that alleged American gun makers should be held responsible for violence by drug cartels on the Southwest U.S Mexico border. The lawsuit sought billions in damages. Justice Elena Kagan wrote the opinion stating the "protection of lawful commerce in arms" act does not allow the suit to proceed. The act allows lawsuits to go forward if they're based on an underlying violation of a State or Federal Law in the United States.
