Tesla Robotics Chief Departs as Company Eyes Massive Growth in AI

Tesla's head of its Optimus robotics division is leaving the company, marking a significant leadership shift in one of its most closely watched business units.

Investors and analysts keep a sharp eye on Tesla's artificial intelligence-driven ventures, including its humanoid robot program and autonomous vehicle technologies. Many view these areas as the company’s next major growth engines.

Despite not yet turning a profit, Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently stated the company plans to build several thousand Optimus robots in 2025, with production increasing tenfold in 2026.

Deutsche Bank estimates that Tesla's robotics business could be worth as much as $70 billion over the next decade, even as the technology remains in development.

The departure of the unit’s leader raises questions about the pace and direction of the program, but Musk continues to assure investors of its long-term promise.
