500 Women Gather at Bitcoin 2025 to Celebrate Female Leadership in Crypto

Every year, the Bitcoin Conference brings together thought leaders, developers, investors, and innovators pushing the future of blockchain and decentralized finance forward. But at the heart of this year’s event was a celebration of something even more powerful: community and visibility—specifically, that of women in crypto.

The fifth annual Women’s Brunch, hosted by journalist and Bitcoin advocate Natalie Brunell, welcomed 500 women from across the globe, united by their shared passion for digital currency and financial empowerment. The energy was electric.

Among the key attendees was Janet Gatewood, co-owner of the Bitcoin Ben Crypto Club in Nashville, Tennessee. Fresh from the luncheon, Janet took a few moments to speak about the experience.

"It was 500 amazing, incredible women," she said. "Any woman that is here at Bitcoin 2025 impresses me."

Gatewood noted that while statistics suggest only 4% of the global population owns Bitcoin, the room full of women painted a very different and promising picture.

"I think women have been in the Bitcoin space—we’re just quieter about it," Gatewood remarked. "This is a space traditionally filled with engineers and technical roles, which have been male-dominated. But in our organization, women are very active, especially as entrepreneurs and investors."

The Bitcoin Ben network, a series of community-driven clubs and education centers, has seen substantial female leadership, with many clubs—including Nashville’s—co-owned and operated by women.

Despite not always getting the same media coverage or spotlight, Janet emphasized that women are playing critical roles in the growth of the ecosystem.

"They just don’t get the press and publicity," she added. "But they’re here. And events like today make that clear."

As the Bitcoin Conference rolls on, conversations like these remind the industry that inclusion, education, and visibility are vital to mass adoption.
