All Coachella Valley Rite Aid Stores Closing Amid Nationwide Bankruptcy

The familiar blue and red signs of Rite Aid pharmacies are soon to disappear from the Coachella Valley landscape. All Rite Aid locations across the region, including those in Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Indio, and Palm Desert, are slated for closure as part of the company's ongoing nationwide bankruptcy proceedings. This move impacts over 600 stores across the country, marking a significant shift in local pharmacy services.

For residents who depend on Rite Aid for their prescription needs, a transition to a new pharmacy will be necessary in the coming weeks. Many prescriptions are set to be automatically transferred to nearby pharmacies, though customers retain the option to designate their preferred new pharmacy. It is crucial for customers to proactively contact their chosen new pharmacy before their local Rite Aid store officially closes to ensure a seamless transfer and avoid any disruption in medication access.

Specific transfer plans have been announced for several Coachella Valley communities:

Cathedral City: Prescriptions currently filled at Rite Aid will be transferred to CVS on Date Palm Drive starting July 7th.

Coachella: Residents will see their prescriptions move to Ralph's Pharmacy on Jefferson Street in Indio beginning July 8th.

Desert Hot Springs: Prescriptions for residents here will be transferred to their preferred pharmacy. Customers are advised to initiate this transfer by contacting their chosen pharmacy directly.

Indio: Rite Aid prescriptions will transfer to Ralph's Pharmacy on Jefferson Street starting June 25th.

Palm Desert: Prescriptions will be moved to Ralph's Pharmacy on Washington Street in Bermuda Dunes beginning July 1st.

Palm Springs: Residents' prescriptions will transfer to the Ralph's Pharmacy on South Sunrise Way on June 24th.

Patients are strongly encouraged to reach out to their new pharmacy as soon as possible with any questions, to confirm their prescription transfers, or to update their personal and insurance information. These closures are a direct consequence of Rite Aid's nationwide bankruptcy filing, which has led to a significant restructuring and reduction of its retail footprint. The company aims to facilitate a smooth transition for its customers while it navigates the complex financial process.
