Crypto Kidnappers Plead Not Guilty
The two men charged in relation to kidnapping and torturing an Italian man for his bitcoin pleaded not guilty today. William Duplessie and John Woeltz were ordered to be held in custody until their next court date July 15th. The two were arraigned in Manhattan criminal court. Attorneys for the men argued the accuser was seen in photos and videos laughing and smiling as he moved about Manhattan during the time he claimed he was held captive. The accuser is a 28 year old Italian national who has not been named by officials. Duplessie and Woeltz did not speak in court other than to formally enter their pleas. They are facing charges of kidnapping, assault, unlawful imprisonment and criminal possession of a weapon.
