Dr. Marcus Funchess Named PSUSD Superintendent

Palm Springs Unified School District has named its next superintendent.
Dr. Marcus Funchess was unanimously selected by the school board.
He will officially step into the role on July 1st.
That’s when current Superintendent Dr. Tony Signore retires.
Funchess is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for San Bernardino City USD.
He brings years of experience in education, leadership, and student advocacy.
The board highlighted his integrity, collaborative spirit, and inclusive vision for the district.
Funchess is known for prioritizing student achievement and strong community partnerships.
He expressed his excitement to lead a district celebrated for its diversity and innovation.
His goals include advancing academic success, ensuring fiscal responsibility, and building supportive environments for all students.

Staff and families are expected to officially welcome him at a July board meeting.
