John Lennon's 1962 Love Letter Hits Auction
A heartfelt piece of Beatles history is heading to auction.
John Lennon’s handwritten love letter to his future wife Cynthia Powell will soon be up for grabs.
Penned in 1962, Lennon was just 21 years old when he wrote it.
At the time, The Beatles were performing their first residency at the Star Club in Hamburg, Germany.
The letter reveals an emotional side of Lennon, including reflections on a former bandmate's passing.
He also humorously complained about Paul McCartney’s loud snoring.
The personal note offers a rare glimpse into Lennon’s private world before global stardom.
Christie’s in London will host the auction on July 9th.
The letter is expected to fetch as much as $54,000.
Lennon and Powell married later that same year.
They had one son together—Julian Lennon.
The couple eventually divorced five years after tying the knot.
